ukuTheza,ukuNgqakula,nokuZilanda.

‘ukuTheza, ukuNgqakula, nokuZilanda’, is a visual continuum of cyclical engagement with a single space, that I term as 'Emkhathini Eskhathini': which collaborates with domestic space as a temporal portal or a locus spectral insurgency where time gathers rather than passes. By collaborating, departing together, never arriving. I return to accumulate excess in duration rather than narrative and sense of progression, in order to register multiple temporal versions of myself in being and becoming within a contested spatial field.

By drawing on the care of gathering of‘ukuTheza’ and catching the fleeting by way of ‘ukuNgqakula’, by assembling dispersed durations into a singular, unresolved contemporaneity that resists linear arrival. This process culminates in ‘ukuZilanda’: the spiritual and political "fetching" of the self/s across temporalities by asserting a sustained presence that is in favour of a slow, relational unfolding of Black being, becoming.

‘ukuTheza, ukuNgqakula, nokuZilanda’ inhabits a hauntological modality, where gathering becomes an animating force through repetition, return, and temporal interference that resists fixation by operating in the image as an inhabited site rather than a static document.

Conceptually,‘ukuTheza, ukuNgqakula, nokuZilanda’ engages ritual as a cosmological strategy, asserting sustained presence within the domestic as a subversion of chronopolitical regulation, hypervisibility, and spectacle, and opening a portal where Black being unfolds slowly, relationally, and beyond crisis or explanation.
