Memoryscapes.
Memoryscapes is my journey through the process of self-exploration and transformation. It is an excavation of the self, rooted in a method of reflection and retrieval-ukuzilanda-a process of sitting with experiences that have shaped my identity. This work does not seek to recreate the past but to engage with its excess, the pieces that remain, and the parts I’ve lost along the way.
In this project, I reflect on the manner we hold onto certain details while others fade away. This process mirrors -looking honestly at the self, acknowledging the distortions and fragments, and working to understand them rather than reject or forget them.
The images are not literal. They are meant to trigger the subconscious, they are metaphors for things that I am not yet able to articulate verbally or through text. This work is not about finding answers. It’s about accepting that some things remain unclear, that memory is incomplete, and that self development is an ongoing back and forth process. In essence Memoryscapes is a reflection on the complexity of identity, memory, and lived experience that subtly shapes us, it is a meditation on how we navigate our personal histories in an ever-shifting present.
