Meditations on Black stillness (Durational Films)
Meditations on Black Stillness is a series of durational films that attend to Black presence through extended time, restraint, and repetition. Refusing spectacle, narrative progression, and crisis-driven representation, the films unfold as quiet encounters in which stillness becomes an active and resistant mode of being.
Time is approached not as linear movement but as a field of hesitation.Through sustained presence and minimal gesture, the works render the imperceptible perceptible, allowing Black subjectivity to emerge beyond productivity, legibility, or explanation. Stillness operates here not as absence or withdrawal, but as practice that speaks to breath, duration, and relationality.
